2011 AGM at Sampford Peverell Village Hall on the 8th December

The AGM was well attended with the usual fish and chip supper and a great raffle enjoyed by all.

The following people were elected onto the committee for 2012.

Chairman: Steve Thorne

Secretary: John Hacker

Treasurer and Membership Secretary: Mark S

The winner of the build and fly competition was Wayne Morgan with an average time of just over 3 seconds!

The Arthur Withers trophy was awarded to Gareth Davis.

The subs for next year were set at £10 . Please note the BMFA subs for next year are £31

Finally Happy Christmas to you all and lets hope next year is great year for flying.

The AGM is to be held on THURSDAY the 8th of December, so please put a note in your diaries

Location same as usual: Sampford Peverell Village Hall

Start Time: 7-30 pm

After the usual business of electing officers etc, there will be a Fish and Chip supper, a raffle (please bring a donation), and finally the annual build and fly competition.

Northhill take 2

At the risk of sounding like a stuck record. We are still on for flying at north hill tonight.

There is a chance of some thunderstorms coming through so it could be a bit of a gamble. If in doubt call or text me on 07720 450 156 and I let you know what the current plan is.

If you are coming up, back sure you grab a bite to eat first as there isn’t going to be a BBQ tonight.

Our Northhill on Monday night was of course a bit of a mess. It had just about stopped raining, but the minor issue of being 100 foot above the cloud base meant that flying was limited to Dave Coopers, park flyer.

Given the slim chance of actually flying I was quite impressed to see quite so many people up there, either we’re all hopeless optimist or we can sniff out a BBQ burger at 5 miles.

The plan is to attempt to reconvine next Monday 27th June for a second bash at it, but we are waiting for confirmation that we can use the field and that there aren’t any full size events on. I’ll email around when I have word.

BREAKING NEWS: Just had word that Monday 27th is good for a rerun (minus the burgers that is), lets hope the weather improves abit.

Good flying at bidwell

Good might be stretching it a little, I for one enjoyed an good afternoons flying at Bidwell. The conditions where light with the wind at about 8-10 mph eastly.

Ted and Dave where already setup and flying when I arrived and Steve Clark arrived shortly after. Steve and Ted seemed to be getting the best of the flying, Ted with his Elan and Steve with his 3 meter moldie.

The 2010 AGM was held on Wednesday 1st December at the Sampford Peverell Village Hall.

Club fee will remain at £10 for 2011 and the BMFA membership is £29
Steve Thorne was elected Chairman
John Hacker was elected Secretary
Gareth Davis was elected Membership Secretary and Honorary Treasurer
The Arther Withers Trophy was awarded to Pete Guyan in recognition of his years service as Treasurer
Pete Guyan won the £50 raffle prize

Hoping to have an informal club meeting at the holywell on the 22nd of October, it’s open to all members, but I do need to give the pub an idea of the numbers for some food.

First flat field of the year

A glorious sunday for flat field, but not at are usually field. The normal field hasn’t been cut yet and probably won’t be for good couple of weeks. Thankfully Mr Auckland managed to pull a field out from under his hat at the 11th hour. The field is on the Millverton road out of Wellington and quite simply massive, the main bulk of the field is given over to corn, but there is a generous border cut all the way around for point to point horse racing (apparently).

Only being six in number didn’t stop us from setting up both bungee’s and the club winch.

The flying was good, well it was at least for 30 minutes I was actually flying for until my pass expired. Ted maiden’d his new giant electric toy only to break it a couple of minutes later (apparently manufactor’s glue wasn’t up to the job).

For my part I had a couple of nice flights and learnt the lessen that it’s better to go and get the small normal sized bungee rather than try a 2 meter floater on the uber monster bungee. Boy does it go up quick on that thing.
